A Few Things To Consider When Installing An Ebbe America Square Shower Drain

Ebbe America Logo

  • Replace the round drain riser portion of the existing shower drain with the new Ebbe America square drain riser.  Adjust to proper mortar bed height for the finished floor..
  • Either remove the drain grate or tape over it to protect it from damage during installation and to prevent masonary and tile products from damaging it.
  • It's recommended you DO NOT install the shower drain grate until the tile has been installed, use the drain plug for tile installation.
  • Important!!  Always cover and protect the four corner post holes in the plastic drain during mortar bed and grouting operations.  Sand can become embedded into the holes making it difficult to remove the drain grate after tile installation is complete.
  • Install, compact and screed a sloped mortar bed to the top of the drain edge.
  • Raise the shower drain riser by twisting it out to the necessary tile height soon after the slope is established this prevents the mortar bed from cracking and allows it to set undisturbed.
  • Re-pack and screed the disturbed mortar immediately around the square drain area before it sets.
  • Check tile height again for the the correct placement of the drain head.
  • Install tile over the cured mortar bed.  Grout caulk and seal as usual.
  • Always leave the shower drain grate puller with the home owner after installation for later use if needed these prevent damage to the drain grate.
